The main difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist is their training and approach to treatment. Psychologists primarily provide therapy and psychological assessments to help individuals manage mental health issues. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and can prescribe medications. While psychologists focus on talk therapy and behavioral health management, psychiatrists address the biological and medical aspects of mental health.

This can vary from one person to the next and influenced by many factors, such as what your goals are and what concerns you have at this time. Engagement in therapy can last from a couple of months to several years. Your clinician will help you discuss your goals for therapy and collaborate with you to formulate and individualized treatment plan. Attending counselling consistently will help. We recommend booking weekly sessions because it allows for more continuity from session to session while working towards your identified goals.

If you are late to your session, your session may be shortened to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Whether or not to proceed with your session will depend on how late you arrive and will be under the discretion of each clinician. You will be responsible for the full cost of the session regardless of the length of time.
